RAND SOLAR OVEN TUBE
With the solar oven tube you can cook roasts, soups, stew, ribs, cakes, breads, cookies, boil water, etc.
Our brand new Rand Solar Oven Tube allows you to cook food for free with only the power of the Sun!
This solar oven tube allows you to cook anything that you can cook in a conventional oven. Inside and outside of tube are nice clean Pyrex type glass with no coatings on it. This makes cleanup a breeze. It can be washed normally. If you are cooking a roast, you can use either an elongated tray or aluminum foil to hold the meat and allow you to slide it in and out. If you are boiling water, just pour it in and put it in the Sun! The same goes for soups, stews, etc. You can cook right on the inside of the tube. You can cover the open end while in use with anything that is not flammable below 400-600 degrees Fahrenheit. Cooking temperatures regularly reach up to 250 degrees without reflectors, or if you add a reflector, temperatures can reach 400-600 degrees!
The solar oven tube works so well as an oven because it is made of 2 layers of glass with a vacuum between the glass layers. The outer glass tube acts like a green house allowing the power of the solar rays to enter the cooker. They then heat up the darkened inner layer to extremely high temperatures. The vacuum between the layers the acts as a super insulator to hold all of the trapped heat inside the tube.
The features of this Extra Large Rand Solar Oven Tube include:
• Cook for free with only the power of the Sun!
• You will never have to worry about power outages!
• Cooks just like a conventional oven. No special recipes required!
• Cook Roasts, Soups, Stew, Ribs, Cakes, Breads, Cookies, Boil Water, Etc.
• Interior volume of this tube is over 1 gallon!!
• Inside and outside of tube are nice clean Pyrex type glass with no coatings on it. This makes cleanup a breeze. It can be washed normally.
• You can cover the open end while in use with anything that is not flammable below 400-600 degrees Fahrenheit. Cooking temperatures regularly reach up to 250 degrees without reflectors, or if you add a reflector, temperatures can reach 400-600 degrees!
• Since it is made of glass, it will last virtually forever if it isn’t dropped or otherwise broken.

Easy installation and they work great! Beats the heck out of the other two electric attic fans I have in the middle of the house. My brother easily installed one of these over my garage and another on the other side of the house, it took him less than two hours to do both. To give you an idea of the area of the roof, when i purchased the shingles to have the roof done, I bought 65 squares worth.
I can only imagine how much I would’ve saved (in electrical bills, because the other two I have are electrical) had I discovered these solar attic fans back in 2009, which is when I had my flat roof lifted to a 6/12 roof pitch. These solar attic fans are quiet and seem to make a big difference in the temperature of my attic, i decided to buy these myself after getting a quote from a radiant barrier technician, who quoted me $1100 for one.
I installed this a few days ago – installation, including cutting the new hole and adding a few new shingles to ensure a water tight install took less than two hours. We’ve had awful problems with the heat coming down from the attic of our 100 year old home and making our second floor unusable. Both of our offices are on the second floor and we work from home, so living in the swamp that is Washington, DC – we often work from the living room in the summer.
The first day after installing this solar attic fan, the temperature on our second floor dropped by ten degrees. The attic is a little under 900 sq. ft. and had awful insulation – with some areas having none at all. Today we installed 21 inches of AttiCat blown-in fiberglass insulation. Between the two, I expect our electric bill will drop quickly and out second floor will be as comfortable, if not more than our first.
The solar attic fan is working so well, I am considering adding one to the bump out on the back of the house that has an inaccessible attic space.
This thing is built with quality materials, and runs smoothly and quietly. The cheap solar fans you can get at HD and Lowe’s are fine for a garage installation, but this thing sits right over our master bedroom so I’m glad I spent the extra $$ to get something that I will never hear a peep from. And oh yeah, our house was 5-10 degrees cooler the first week after installation.
Installed the solar attic fan nine days ago. Extremely quiet. Cannot hear it from the inside of the house! It is worth the money up front because you will never see it on your electric bill. We used to see the wheel turning very fast on our electric meter when our original attic fan turned on. It was noisy too! My husband watched the video on line and was able to install this himself. We are happy we purchased it. We saw other solar attic fans comparable to this one on line that had to have a separate thermostat purchased which added to the cost. This is a ready to go self contained unit. Just install it and it does the rest. No wiring required! Highly recommended.
Nice surprise. For the price this unit is very high quality of all stainless steel construction with 5 aluminum blades and it really moves the air.
I ordered two of these solar attic fans to be used on a solar lumber kiln. Before ordering these I compared these units to others that were available online. Other customer reviews and product performance results were key reasons for chosing these solar attic fans. The fan assemblies were received in great condition, were installed in the solar kiln easily and appear to be working as was expected. I hope to be drying lumber cut from my sawmill very soon. In fact, I have over 30 4 X 4 X12′ posts in the kiln now, The fans should allow the lumber to dry at a much quicker timeframe than without the fans. The kiln is located a long distance away from a power source so the solar attic fans was a good match for my situation.
Installed in the attic and my electric bill from the air conditioner has dropped $30 a month it was well worth the money and will purchase on for my other house.
I had bought a Honeywell solar attic fan from Sam’s, and it works great, but is not rated even half the CFM as this one. I needed an extra solar attic fan and researched the different one’s heavily. For the Air Flow of this unit it is the most cost efficient option I could find. I am very impressed with the unit. It was probably a return as it appeared the fan blade was put on incorrectly, as it looked like a wounded duck blowing when I first tested it before installing it. I took the blade off and lined up the notch for the blade and voila, perfect. I retrofitted it to replace my existing attic Fan, I am very happy with the air flow, as an addition to the Honeywell model I have that I bought at Sam’s.
This little fan array is just great for vents that have need a power flow or gable ends of roofs. Easy to install and efficient. worked right out of the box. good instructions, Will buy again if the need arises. Love it!!
I installed my solar attic fan in about 3 hrs (built frame to hold fan and platform to attach panel so it could be swiveled to catch sun from sunup to sunset) and it took 2 days to notice change in temp in attic. Measured 158 degrees before installation and 2 days later at the hottest point of the day it was 115 degrees. Already notice change in how often the heat pump runs. I am buying another one to install on the gables over my cathedral ceiling family room. The fans are so quiet that I didn’t realize they were even running when I tested them on the deck before installation. Fantastic product.
With the Rand Solar Attic Fan, you will dramatically cut your cooling costs in the summer. Your attic can get hotter than 160 degrees in the summer. This heat works its way into your house, and makes it more difficult to cool it in the summer. With our attic fans, you can cool your attic temperatures by up to 50 degrees! The solar attic fan removes the excess heat from your attic. This means there is less heat to penetrate the rooms below. This keeps your air-conditioner from working overtime, which can result in savings of up to 30% on home cooling costs.
The Rand Solar Attic Fan automatically regulates itself. When the sun is low in the morning, the fan runs slowly. As the Sun gets higher in the sky, your fan will automatically speed up to dissipate the extra heat. So, during the hottest part of the day, your fan is running at its fastest speed. And at night, it automatically shuts off. In addition, we include an 85 degree thermostat already installed! It will turn on the fan anytime your attic is above 85 degrees and there is sun shining. This greatly increases the life of the unit because it will not run when it is not needed.
Our solar attic fans provide needed ventilation to decrease moisture and water vapor in your attic. This, combined with the decreased attic temperature, can increase the longevity of your entire roof system!
Rand Solar Attic Fans are also very user friendly when it comes to installation. It’s a simple do-it-yourself job that is very straightforward, especially if you have a basic knowledge of normal construction practices. On the installation of rooftop attic fans, this requires cutting a hole in the roof and correctly fitting the shingles to keep the roof water-tight. For the rooftop attic fan installation, here is an instructional video to assist you with the installation: http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/video/0,,20047003,00.html
As for the gable attic fans, they are normally mounted inside your attic behind a gable mounted vent at your house peak that has fixed position louvers. (They don’t open and close.) The solar panel is then mounted on the roof in good sunlight, and the fasteners must be properly water-proofed.All Rand Solar Attic Fans include a 5 year parts warranty. And, we will endeavor to help you diagnose and repair any problems that you may encounter. Simply email our customer service address if you encounter any issues.
